Ricardo Sibelo
In the international world of theater, dance, film, musical, show, television, video, choreography, producing and directing and ballet Ricardo Sibelo is well known. Ricardo is special guest teacher at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague Holland.

Thanks to Yvonne and Pieter Lutz, he began his acting career as a professional with the Theatre company "Zuidelijk Toneelgroep Globe" in the play 'A Taste of Honey" by Shelagh Delaney.![]() |

Afterwards he worked at all other great theater companies like f.i. theater in Arnhem , Stadstoneel Rotterdam and so on, in Belgium at the KVS in Brussels, in London, England and in the USA. |

He received his dance education from Benjamin Feliksdal in Amsterdam and in New York City where he studied and worked with The Dance Theatre of Harlem and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. He is the first Surinamese/Dutch allround artist who has accomplished working in New York as well as in London's West-end.

Working with the late, renowned Dutch actress, Josephine van Gasteren, in the play GINGERBREAD LADY, he received the Johan Kaart award for his supporting role. |

In the 70's, he became a presenter for the Dutch Television company NOS. He presented a weekly informative and documentory news program entitled, Panoramic Surinam and The Netherland Antilles.

He has appeared and starred in many television television series like "Klaverweide", "Pipo De Clown" in the series "Pipo en de Lachplaneet", "Dossier Verhulst", Mean Stories by Veronica (now named Yorin), the Dutch “soap” Westenwind and What the stars say.

He is well known for the role "Leo" in the comedy "De Kip en het Ei" (-The Chicken and the Egg-)

and as Jan Brouwer in the award winning series "Vrouwenvleugel"- WOMEN's WING. This drama won the famous prestigious TELEVIZIERRING television award in 1994. |

In Manchester he was a member of the original cast of the Mobil Prize winning play "Amongst Barbarians" written by Michael Wall in the Royal Exchange Theatre production.

He repeated his role in the BBC televison production of the play, starring David Jansen, for the series Plays on BBC 2. |
Ricardo has choreographed and directed many stage shows and pop video's for such international stars as Jon and Vangelis, Banarama and Boney M.
In Holland he has worked intensivily with Endemol productions and WENTINK EVENTS, for televison as well as theater. He is especially proud of his work for the World Press Photo Gala in November 1991, where he directed and choreographed a specially made segment from the musical Miss Saigon.
He also created an original ballet, The Jungle, for Dutch National Ballet soloists, Jeanette Vondersaar and Clint Farha.

Ricardo creates original shows with horses. In these shows, well known Dutch personalities such as talk show hosts like Tineke de Nooy, Ursul de Geer, or Donald Jones, or Swedish director Barbro Tuner, or internationally famous interior designer Jan de Bouvrie, perform original parodies of fairy tales, live, for the young at heart audience.

As a dance teacher in Ballet, Jazz and Tap he is very much in demand and is frequently invited as international masterteacher in Finland, Norway, USA, England and Scotland. He has taught at the International Opera Center in Amsterdam, and is a special guest teacher at the Royal Conservatory (Koninklijk Conservatorium) in The Hague. In the London West End he was awarded the title “Best Jazzdance teacher” by Time Out magazine three years in a row.

In 1999, Ricardo Sibelo realized a long time dream, with the building of his own dance studio, THE DANCE STUDIO RICARDO SIBELO. Situated in Zoetermeer, Holland, the beautiful futuristic building, features many of Ricardo's design ideas, and houses ballet, fitness, hip-hop, jazz and tap lessons, acting classes, a sauna, and restaurant and bar. |
Ricardo and his students, have been involved in a unique collaboration with the Residentie Orkest of The Haque, combining conductor Jaap van Zweden's classical repertoire, with hip-hop / breakdance and contemporary jazzdance.

Because of this succesful collaboration, Ricardo was asked to choreograph the final act of the yearly cultural event in Amsterdam, de UITMARKT, which was aired live on television on Sunday August 27th 2000. | |
Thanks to this successful performance, Ricardo and his student dancers are invited to represent the Netherlands in June 2003 at the Dresdner Musikfestspiele in Dresden, Germany. | |
In march 2002 he staged and choreograhed the Symphonic Dances (West Side Story orchestral version) by Leonard Bernstein with the Residentie Orkest The Hague.
